Job Overview: The Operations Officer position within the Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory (SIA) team at IFC is designed for a motivated professional with a strong background in sustainability, particularly in the mining industry. The role involves delivering SIA's services to contribute to the growth of investment business in infrastructure, focusing on sectors such as mining, energy, transport, and waste. The Operations Officer will engage with clients across Africa to identify new business opportunities, design innovative solutions to address sustainability challenges, and ensure that projects align with the World Bank Group's mandates. This position requires a proactive approach to client engagement, project management, and knowledge dissemination, with the goal of fostering sustainable development and community buy-in for infrastructure projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Operations Officer include:
Client engagement and business development: Supporting the regional team in identifying new business opportunities, conducting risk assessments, designing innovative solutions, and preparing project proposals.
Portfolio management and delivery of client projects: Leading the preparation of project documentation, providing sustainability expertise to clients, managing service providers, ensuring compliance with project timelines and budgets, and engaging with stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
Knowledge creation and dissemination: Developing knowledge materials, sharing expertise, participating in industry events, and facilitating relationships across stakeholder groups to enhance sustainability practices and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master's degree in a relevant discipline such as business, finance, social sciences, or sustainable development. They should have a minimum of eight years of relevant experience in sustainability, sustainable finance, and resilient infrastructure development, particularly within the mining sector. A strong understanding of ESG reporting, sustainability indicators, and monitoring techniques is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to manage complex operations and develop relationships with diverse stakeholders, along with excellent communication skills in both English and French.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a master's degree in relevant fields such as business, metals and mining, finance, business administration, social sciences, economics, sustainable development, or engineering.
