Job Overview: The National Political Liaison Officer position is situated within the Political Affairs and Communications Unit (PACU) of the OSCE Mission to Skopje. The primary objective of this role is to contribute to political monitoring, analysis, and reporting, with a strong emphasis on maintaining a diverse network of contacts across the political spectrum. The officer will be responsible for staying informed about key political developments and providing timely political insights that facilitate informed decision-making by senior management. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will undertake a range of responsibilities under the guidance of the Chief of Political Affairs and Communications Unit. Key duties include monitoring political developments relevant to the mission's mandate at both national and international levels, providing analytical inputs, briefings, and updates to senior management. The officer will advise on procedural, regulatory, and policy aspects of parliamentary proceedings and political processes. Additionally, the role involves contributing to PACU's political analysis and regular reporting, coordinating with other programmatic units to ensure coherence in political messaging, and developing a robust network of political contacts. The officer will also prepare briefing materials, talking points, and speeches for senior officials, represent the mission at various events, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess citizenship or permanent residency in the Republic of North Macedonia. A first-level university degree in political science, international relations, law, or a related field is required. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional experience in political affairs, with established contacts among government officials and political actors. A sound understanding of the socio-political environment in North Macedonia and the wider regional context is essential. Candidates should demonstrate effective interaction skills with various stakeholders, proven experience in political analysis and reporting, and excellent drafting and analytical abilities. The ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment while maintaining impartiality and objectivity is crucial, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Educational Background: The position requires a first-level university degree in political science, international relations, law, or a similar field. Experience: Candidates should have at least four years of relevant professional experience in political affairs. Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and the local languages are mandatory. Additional Notes: The position is a full-time contracted role with a monthly remuneration of approximately EUR 2,617.75, subject to social security deductions. Social benefits include participation in Cigna Medical Insurance and the OSCE Provident Fund. Appointments are typically made at Step 1 of the OSCE salary scale, with the possibility of higher initial appointments based on relevant experience. Candidates should be aware that the OSCE does not reimburse expenses related to interviews, tests, visas, or relocation.
