The adviser will also contribute to the strategic planning initiatives of ODIHR, ensuring that the organization remains responsive to the needs of participating States and effectively implements its human dimension commitments. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying good practices in ODIHR's work and promoting them within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal Adviser will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: advising on ODIHR's fundraising efforts and approaches; researching extra-budgetary funding opportunities for all ODIHR programmes and projects; identifying and building strategic partnerships with other organizations for joint initiatives; maintaining information on ODIHR's fundraising history; advising the First Deputy Director on the impact of programmatic activities; contributing to ODIHR's strategic planning through research and policy advice; and researching good practices in ODIHR's programmatic work. The incumbent will also perform other related duties as assigned, ensuring that all activities align with ODIHR's mandate and objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a second-level university degree in law, political or social science, or a related field, preferably with a specialization in international relations or public policy. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience will also be accepted. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in diplomacy or international relations, particularly in human rights and democracy assistance. Experience in project management, especially with donor-funded projects in complex political contexts, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate gender awareness and sensitivity, and possess the ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a second-level university degree (Master's degree) in a relevant field such as law, political science, or social science. Candidates with a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) will be considered if they have two additional years of relevant experience. Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in relevant fields, with a preference for candidates who have seven years of experience if they hold a first-level university degree. Additional Notes: This position is classified as an international secondment and is full-time. The contract is fixed-term, and the maximum period of service in this post is 10 years.
