UNICEF has three main goals, which are:
- To
save children's lives: UNICEF works to ensure that every child has access
to basic healthcare, nutrition, clean water, sanitation, and education, in
order to prevent child mortality and promote child survival.
- To
defend their rights: UNICEF promotes and protects the rights of every
child, including the right to a safe and healthy childhood, the right to
education, and the right to participate in decisions that affect their
lives. It also works to prevent and respond to violence, exploitation, and
abuse against children.
- To
promote the rights of children and young people: UNICEF works to promote
the rights of every child, including the right to a safe and healthy
childhood, the right to education, and the right to participate in
decisions that affect their lives. This includes efforts to promote gender
equality, empower young people, and support the inclusion of children with
disabilities.
These three goals are
interconnected and reflect UNICEF's mission to ensure that every child has the
opportunity to grow up healthy, educated, and protected.
