Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator, the successful candidate will function as the interlocutor between the GMDAC team and the web developers and lead on the technical and Content Development for the Global Migration Data Portal and the Knowledge Platform and Connection Hub of the Global Compact of Migration.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Be responsible for the content editing and upload of the Global Migration Data Portal to ensure regular updates, including world map data, Migration Governance profiles, content of the Data Innovation Directory, new regional overviews and translations.
  2. Manage, coordinate and mediate between the work of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) GMDAC and the external web developers, who are responsible for designing and developing the portal, as well as those developing the Knowledge Platform and Connection Hub of the Global Compact for Migration, for effective web development. Collaborate with the external web developers to formulate suitable solutions to complex problems and to identify new features.
  3. Manage, coordinate and mediate between IOM GMDAC, the external web developers and IOM’s Information Technology (IT) teams for an effective Technical Support for the Migration Data Portal and the Knowledge Platform and Connection Hub.
  4. Lead on the revision and upload of new material to the tools, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Global Compact for Migration sections of the Migration Data Portal to ensure its relevance and comprehensiveness. Support issue resolution, update/Change Management and data links.
  5. Ensure the provision of language editing of the Migration Data Portal content for quality control purposes.
  6. Lead on the development of the repository of existing practices and on-demand function of the Knowledge Platform and Connection Hub by managing and supporting the tendering and web development processes.
  7. Present and promote the Portal and Knowledge Platform and Connection Hub at training workshops and other events, as required, to increase visibility.
  8. Perform such other duties as maybe assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• Master’s degree in Economics, International Relations, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Law, Development Studies, International Affairs or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or • University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

• Minimum five years of experience in designing and building information portals and easily accessible data tools; • Experience in working effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds; • Practical experience of how to multi-task, prioritize and work independently; • Experience in supervising web development of international platforms/portals.

Skills

• Computer literacy, especially in Drupal and Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong background in migration data and Capacity Building.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Good knowledge of IOM’s structure and portfolios.

• Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of French, Spanish and/or German is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
