Job Overview:
The UNV Finance & Budget Assistant position is situated within UNEP’s Climate Change Division, specifically in the Mitigation Branch and Climate Change Mitigation Unit. The role involves supporting the Financial Management of projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The assistant will work under the supervision of the UNEP Funds Management Officer and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial documents, assisting in budget preparation, and facilitating the disbursement of funds to Executing Agencies. The position requires a proactive approach to Financial Reporting and project management, ensuring that all financial transactions are processed efficiently and accurately while providing guidance to executing agencies on financial matters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the UNV Finance & Budget Assistant include verifying the accuracy and consistency of project documents, assisting in budget preparation, setting up Banking details for executing agencies, and facilitating fund disbursement. The assistant will provide guidance on financial reporting, track project internalizations, prepare fund documents, review expenditure reports, process cash advances, and follow up on outstanding financial reports. Additionally, the assistant will maintain project databases, assist in project evaluations and closures, develop flowcharts for financial transactions, and provide general administrative support. The role also involves maintaining project files, drafting correspondence related to financial matters, and participating in UNV activities to strengthen volunteerism.
Required Qualifications:
