Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Logistic Analyst will play a crucial role in managing Logistics Operations to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services. This position requires the development of standard procedures for logistics management, particularly for health supplies, and involves monitoring risks associated with shipments. The analyst will handle Emergency health logistics, support supply chain optimization projects, and identify cost-effective shipping methods. The role also includes tracking shipments, maintaining logistics information, and collaborating with Data Management analysts to implement effective monitoring systems. The analyst will provide support to country offices in managing shipping documents and ensuring timely payments to finalize purchase orders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer Logistic Analyst will undertake various tasks, including managing logistics operations for the delivery of goods and services, developing standard procedures for logistics management, monitoring risks and challenges related to shipments, and handling emergency health logistics. The analyst will also support the establishment of supply chain optimization projects, identify cost-effective shipping modes, monitor and track shipments, and maintain logistics information on internal databases. Regular meetings with freight forwarders will be conducted to discuss key performance indicators (KPIs) and delivery status. The analyst will advise the Procurement Specialist and country offices on any delays and corrective actions needed, as well as handle demurrage cases in Coordination with partners and suppliers.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in logistics management and supply chain optimization is essential. The role requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders effectively. Familiarity with health logistics and procurement processes is highly desirable, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business Administration, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in logistics or supply chain management will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of logistics principles and practices, particularly in the context of health supplies and Emergency Response.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain management, or procurement. Experience working in international organizations or with health-related logistics is preferred. Familiarity with UNDP operations and procedures will be an advantage. The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of additional UN languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset. Candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills in the required languages to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
