Mission and objectives

The 2015 Agreement between OHCHR and the Government of Honduras establishes the following mandate for the OHCHR Office in Honduras: - Observe and report on the Human Rights situation in the country in order to advise Honduran authorities in the formulation and implementation of policies, programs and measures that contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights; - Provide Technical Support and assistance in the area of human rights to State institutions to advance the respect and guarantee of human rights; - Provide advice and support to civil society and victims of Human Rights Violations to strengthen their human rights capacities, including the use of national and international protection mechanisms; - Promote compliance by the State with the recommendations and decisions of UN human rights bodies and mechanisms, or those of other international organizations, providing guidance for the adoption of specific compliance measures.

Context

The assignment is implemented within the wider framework of the OHCHR-Honduras mandate to monitor and report on the observance of human rights in the country.

Task description

OHCHR-Honduras is looking for one online Volunteer to translate a UN human rights document from Spanish to English. The text to be translated is 15 pages (8,500 words) long. It needs to be translated using UN and OHCHR terminology in line with unterm.un.org.

The online volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the staff that contributed to the drafting of the document and learn about the work of the Office in Honduras.
