Description
Telecommunication Product Engineer in the Ground Segment Section, Technologies and Products Division, Telecom Technologies, Product and Systems Department, Directorate of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications.
Duties
If selected for this position, reporting to the Head of the Ground Segment Section, you will be responsible for managing telecommunication ground segment development activities.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
• initiating, monitoring and controlling, in collaboration with the Procurement Department and other relevant ESA departments, development activities for the satellite communication market which are funded under the ARTES Core Competitiveness and Strategic Programme Line programmes;
• reporting regularly on the progress, status, schedule and outcome of managed activities, including realistic forecasting of milestone -completion dates;
• identifying and defining needs for future satellite Communication Systems and services;
• supervising the implementation of the development activities in line with their programmatic objectives and coordinating the required expert Technical Support provided by other ESA organisational units (e.g. Directorate of Operations, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality);.
• supporting satellite communication projects implemented in the Directorate when required;
• coordinating with external stakeholders as required.
Technical Competencies

A master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required for this post.
Additional requirements
Direct experience of working with a commercial and governmental satellite telecommunications organisation and European industry.
An in-depth understanding of operating within a programmatic framework would be a distinct advantage.
Strong negotiation skills and contract/subcontract management experience.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
