Technical Learning Specialist


Job Description

The Technical Learning Specialist will be responsible for providing primary support to ACDI/VOCA’s Technical and Learning Application Department, to the Program Management & project staff in the organization, and to the development of accessible learning products. S/he will develop and catalog learning products, tools, and other technical information for efficient use in proposal Design and project implementation. Specific responsibilities will focus on the collection, organization, publication, and communication of ACDI/VOCA technical knowledge, approaches and products.


TLA Support and Coordination: Maintain and contribute to development of TLA communication tools, including SharePoint, Communities of Practice. Compile and promote technical approaches in new business efforts through development of briefers, infographics, success stories, etc. Contribute to organizational and practice area improvements by serving on task forces. Support tool development with research, formatting, editing, and tracking functions. Research and generate background reports. Support TLA specialists with the collation, Analysis, visualization and reporting of monitoring and evaluation data.

Knowledge Management: Coordinate TLA engagement with knowledge management processes, and with Communications and Outreach. Support the capture, organization, packaging and sharing of technical experiences and learning through new and established mechanisms (Aviator, SharePoint, Teams, Webinars, Brown Bags, website, external newsletters, etc.). Liaise with Knowledge Management team and Communications and Outreach team to facilitate learning across TLA and other departments (Project Operations, M&E, and Business Development Group). Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum of 5 years of experience, including overseas work, in international development or related field. Master’s degree required in International Development, Agriculture, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Additional years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Ability to travel to projects, to engage in the pilot testing of tools, or to participate in technical assignments with TLA colleagues. Experience with multi-media applications, Excel, Word, Power Point, Power-BI and other Microsoft programs. Demonstrated excellence in oral, written and reading comprehension abilities. Writing samples will be required. Fluency in English required, additional language skills strongly desired. Diverse experiences in more than one continent and various socio-political contexts preferred. Sound technical knowledge and field experience in Food and Nutrition security, climate resilience, women empowerment, or Gender Equality preferred. Skills in communication and presentation for diverse audiences including conducting training events for adults and professional preferred. Understanding of adult learning styles, and experience designing appropriate training and learning experiences preferred.
