Job Overview:
The System- and Support Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating the IT infrastructure of SOS Children's Villages, both on-premise and in the Microsoft Cloud. This position focuses on endpoint management and software distribution, ensuring that the organization's ICT systems are effective, reliable, and secure. The engineer will work closely with the IT Security management team to enhance operational resilience, preparing for and responding to disruptions. The role requires staying updated with technological advancements and exploring potential business advantages through ICT.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and operate LAN and Windows-based infrastructure to ensure high levels of security and availability.
- Manage backup infrastructure and centralized software distribution systems like MS Intune / Autopilot.
- Monitor advanced threat management platforms and security information and Event Management solutions, such as SentinelOne, and take appropriate mitigation measures.
- Implement and support the development of technical and organizational measures in compliance with GDPR requirements.
- Participate in incident management and provide 1st and 2nd level support within the Global Service Center (GSC).
- Conduct IT risk Analysis, both predictive and incident-based, and identify actionable remediation measures for on-premise and cloud-based systems.
- Contribute to the development of strong and effective IT security concepts.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Business Continuity plans.
- Provide expertise during internal and external compliance procedures and audits, particularly during security assessments and reviews.
1 - Investigate potential or actual attacks, respond to incidents, define countermeasures, and communicate with responsible product and asset owners.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced skills in end-user technologies, LAN/WAN infrastructure, Azure AD / Entra ID, and planning and organization.
- Deep knowledge of IT security domains and expertise in IT systems, processes, and controls.
- Experience applying ISO, NIST standards, or other frameworks to manage risks, including CIS controls and benchmarks.
- Strong analytical thinking and a thorough understanding of the attack life cycle, including knowledge of attack vectors, tactics, and techniques used by threat actors.
- Initiative and self-starter mentality with good written communication skills.
- Advanced skills in designing, analyzing, and operationalizing existing procedures and processes, including documentation and further development.
Educational Background:
A valid Austrian working permit or eligibility to work within the EU is required. The position necessitates a strong educational background in Information Technology or a related field, with a focus on Systems Engineering and IT security.
Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in IT Systems Management, particularly in roles that involve maintaining and securing IT infrastructure. Experience in a global enterprise environment is desirable, along with a proven track record of managing IT security and compliance.
Languages:
Fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is essential in a multicultural working environment. Additional language skills may be considered an asset.
Additional Notes:
The position is based in Innsbruck, Austria, and requires standby duty on weekends, a maximum of twice a month. The organization offers a diverse range of tasks in a leading INGO multicultural environment, along with training schemes and educational enhancement opportunities. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and employees benefit from 14 salaries per year, child allowance, flexible working hours after the onboarding period, and the possibility of working from home or abroad for up to 25% of their working time after onboarding. Additional company holidays are provided on December 24th and 31st, and a company doctor is available.
