The Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) is a multilateral initiative aimed at promoting high-quality connectivity and infrastructure investments in developing countries through partnerships. Established to address the pressing need for sustainable infrastructure, MCDF operates in various sectors including transport, energy, ICT, and cross-border water management. The organization comprises a Finance Facility and a Collaboration Platform, with the Finance Facility overseen by the MCDF Governing Committee (GC) and the Collaboration Platform managed by the MCDF Coordination Committee (CC). The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) serves as the Administrator for the MCDF, hosting the MCDF Secretariat, which is functionally independent yet administratively established by AIIB. The Secretariat is led by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for providing operational support to the MCDF while ensuring compliance with AIIB’s administrative rules. The MCDF aims to foster communication and collaboration among its member International Financing Institutions (IFIs) and to share best practices for high-quality connectivity infrastructure with developing country governments and financiers.

Job Overview:
The Sustainable Development Specialist / Senior Sustainable Development Specialist will play a crucial role in leading workshops and Training Programs focused on Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building across various workstreams, including climate-smart connectivity infrastructure, project preparation and management, sustainable transport, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, procurement, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), and anti-corruption and integrity. The specific focus workstreams will be determined based on the candidate's previous experience and interests. This position requires a proactive approach to generating innovative ideas for events and Knowledge Products, as well as engaging with partner IFIs, developing country governments, and other stakeholders to establish MCDF as a valuable partner in infrastructure development. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of the Platform Team and will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of workshops and training programs, as well as the collection of monitoring and evaluation data to track progress and enhance the efficiency of the Platform's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Sustainable Development Specialist / Senior Sustainable Development Specialist include:

• Generating innovative ideas for Platform events, knowledge products, practitioner networks, and other activities related to the focus workstreams.
• Organizing, moderating, supervising, and ensuring the quality of workshops and training programs on the focus workstreams, as well as generating knowledge products from these activities.
• Leading engagement efforts with partner IFIs, developing country governments, financiers, and other infrastructure actors to establish MCDF as a valuable partner.
• Collecting monitoring and evaluation data on the Platform’s work to track progress and adapt strategies for maximum effectiveness.
• Providing support to the Program Team on capacity building and project preparation projects related to the focus workstreams, as needed.
• Managing staff and consultants as the MCDF Secretariat expands, ensuring effective team collaboration and performance.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of 8-10 years of experience working on high-quality infrastructure investments in developing countries, with a significant portion of this experience involving International Financing Institutions (IFIs). Candidates should have experience in at least two of the following priority topics: climate-smart connectivity infrastructure, project preparation and management, sustainable transport, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, procurement, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), and anti-corruption and integrity. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently, bring creativity to the role, and have practical experience in planning and organizing knowledge events and training programs. Strong multitasking abilities and a collaborative mindset are essential, along with excellent oral and written communication skills in English, ensuring that all written materials are print-ready.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in fields such as economics, finance, infrastructure, social development, climate and environment, governance, or other related disciplines from a reputable university. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sustainable development and infrastructure financing.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have substantial experience, specifically 8-10 years, in the field of high-quality infrastructure investments, particularly in developing countries. This experience should include work with International Financing Institutions (IFIs) and should cover at least two of the specified priority topics relevant to the position.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills required to produce print-ready materials. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required for this position.
