Job Overview:
The Sr. Operations Manager in the Clinical Research Department at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role responsible for the daily management of departmental operations. This includes overseeing budget management, Contract Management, and reporting. The position requires collaboration with the Director of Operations to establish best practice operational standards and support special projects that align with departmental objectives. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Sr. Operations Manager will support the Director of Operations in establishing budget tracking and reporting across multiple budgets ranging from $50 to $100 million. Responsibilities include managing operations such as accounting, expense reporting, and procurement, while building relationships with legal teams, external vendors, and partners to achieve business goals. The manager will develop and distribute monthly reports on project variances, analyze financial activities, and provide mentorship and recommendations. Additionally, the role involves leading program budget preparation, managing departmental contracting processes, and working with the legal department to negotiate contract terms. The manager will also utilize various systems to process invoices and contracts, prepare recurring reports, and oversee a Coordinator who supports Operational Activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, with a Master’s Degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, Analysis" id="link" class="link">Financial Analysis, budget analysis, and general business Administration. Experience in grant project management, particularly in the healthcare sector, is essential. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of budgeting and reporting processes for service agreements and grants, along with proficiency in large-scale purchasing and variance analysis. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary, as is the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and effectively communicate with diverse staff levels.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s Degree. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in business administration, finance, or a related discipline, equipping candidates with the necessary skills to manage complex financial and operational tasks effectively.

Experience:
