Job Overview:
The Sr. Grants Officer plays a crucial role in the Grants Management team, responsible for overseeing a complex array of grants under the ALG program. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Sr. Grants Officer include ensuring compliance with the ALG Grants Manual and relevant regulations, providing training and guidance to project staff, overseeing grants management in Coordination with the grants team, developing and implementing the USAID ALG grants manual, and participating in work planning. The officer will lead the development of timelines for grant activities, conduct due diligence processes for potential grantees, prepare grant agreements, organize kickoff meetings, and maintain a monitoring system for funded activities. Additionally, the officer will support capacity-building efforts for partners, review grants for completeness, ensure documentation is uploaded in the grants database, and assist in managing grant closeout procedures. The Sr. Grants Officer will also mentor other grant staff and troubleshoot grant-related issues as needed.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent number of years of professional experience. Candidates should have grants experience, preferably with an international donor-funded organization. A candidate with a master’s degree must have at least 6 years of professional work experience, while a candidate with a bachelor’s degree must have at least 8 years of relevant technical experience. Familiarity with USAID rules and regulations is strongly desired, along with the ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational problems based on relevant information.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred for this position, although equivalent professional experience may be considered. A master’s degree is advantageous and may reduce the required years of experience needed for the role.
Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience in grants management, particularly with international donor-funded organizations.
