Organizational Setting and Work Relationships: The Senior Reporting Assistant will fulfil internal and external reporting requests. The incumbent is supervised by the Reporting Officer or another professional or more senior local staff depending on the staffing structure of the Office.

The Senior Reporting Assistant is expected to have contacts within the Organization and outside the duty station, as well as with partners and other stakeholders to collect information and monitor programme activities.

Duties: - Stay abreast of the operational developments and assist in the preparation of briefing notes and reports.

- Assist in consolidation of data and facilitate the preparation of periodic reports including Sitreps, Fact Sheets and other activity specific reports and in preparations of interviews to the local media and background briefings to the international media.

- Update regularly the relevant information tracking system(s), adhere to electronic filing requirements.

- Provide administrative support in routine services and activities within the Unit - Accompany visits of foreign delegation and the media to refugee sites in the region, giving appropriate briefings, interpreting support and commentaries.

- Work closely with relevant colleagues to contribute to accurate and standard data presentation.

- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes in a timely manner.

- Consolidate and provide inputs for donor reports.

- Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Education & Professional Work Experience Years of Experience / Degree Level For G5 - 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher Field(s) of Education Not applicable.

Certificates and/or Licenses Journalism, Social Science, Humanities (Certificates and Licenses marked with an asterisk* are essential) Relevant Job Experience Essential Computer skills (in MS office) including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, Data Management, etc). Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills Desirable Training relevant to function of the position including Programme Management ¿ Level 1.

OPERATIONAL CONTEXT Italy will remain a major gateway to Europe for refugees seeking protection and lasting solutions in 2021 and beyond. It will continue to play an important role in refugee protection in Europe. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Italy kept its borders open receiving nearly half of all refugees and migrants arriving in Europe by sea in 2020, as well as increasing numbers arriving by land and air. COVID-19 has made responding to refugees and migrants in Italy more difficult but presented opportunities too, making UNHCR¿s presence in the country relevant to safeguard best practices achieved in protection, while expanding solutions, prioritizing vulnerable people, engaging with refugees and empowering communities.

UNHCR is looking for a qualified candidate to perform functions as Senior Reporting Assistant on a temporary appointment for Maternity replacement with possibility of deployment effective April 2021. The incumbent will report to the Representative and will support the Operation¿s senior management, working in collaboration with all units to collect and compile relevant information on major trends and developments and UNHCR response, contributing to timely information sharing and smooth decision-making. The Senior Reporting Assistant will respond to internal reporting requests and produce regular internal reports and briefing notes, maintaining contacts within the Organization inside and outside the duty station. The incumbent will also work in close Coordination with the Information Management, External Relations and Public Information teams to develop narrative content for the office¿s publicly available information products, informing external audiences¿ understanding of the operational context and UNHCR¿s relevance. The Senior Reporting Assistant will keep abreast of operational developments by closely liaising with all units and regularly attending progress meetings and will also be responsible for timely preparing and distributing meeting minutes. Moreover, the incumbent will be tasked to support senior management¿s engagement with key stakeholders, preparing materials and key messages to be delivered externally, in meetings or to wider audiences.

UNHCR looks for a suitable candidate, who is proficient in English and fluent in Italian. Excellent drafting skills in English are required. Sound knowledge of the Italian operational context and previous UNHCR experience are an asset. Basic familiarity with data management tools and data consolidation is desirable.
