Job Overview:
The Senior Director, Programs for the Asia Pacific Area Office (APO) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for implementing strategic frameworks aimed at addressing systemic failures in access to adequate and affordable housing. This position aligns with HFHI’s Theory of Change and global strategy, leading regional efforts to reduce the housing deficit in the Asia Pacific region. The Senior Director will work collaboratively with various Area Offices (AOs) to ensure consistency in regional strategies and will coordinate with the HFH network to advance advocacy goals. The role requires inspirational leadership, strategic oversight, and a commitment to embedding monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) throughout projects and programs. The Senior Director will also represent the region in global discussions and initiatives, ensuring that Habitat's mission and values are upheld across all operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of regional strategic goals for the program’s unit, ensuring greater scale and impact for the Habitat network.
- Hold the programs unit accountable for the implementation of the regional strategy, communicating priorities and initiatives effectively with stakeholders.
- Engage with the regional network to support the effective implementation of the strategy, including Capacity Building and providing expertise.
- Ensure MEAL is integrated into all projects and programs.
- Enhance Build + Influence efforts through Coordination across AOs and the network.
- Serve as a representative and thought leader on programs and advocacy.
- Oversee grant management and provide Technical Support for resource development.
- Collaborate with global teams to align priorities and needs.
- Coordinate safeguarding policies and ensure compliance during project implementation. 1
- Monitor compliance with safeguarding requirements through Country Focal Points during project reviews.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in programs, impact, advocacy, or operational support.
- Proven track record of leading teams to implement high-impact programs, including MEAL and grant management.
- Strong skills in Change Management, organizational development, and project management.
- Experience in complex, matrixed organizational structures.
- Ability to analyze information and form actionable insights for strategy implementation.
- Familiarity with the housing sector or related areas such as gender, poverty, and Climate Change.
- Deep knowledge of the Asia Pacific region and experience delivering impactful projects.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in Program Management, advocacy, or related disciplines that are essential for the role.
Experience:
The position requires at least 10 years of relevant experience in areas such as program management, impact assessment, advocacy, or operational support. Candidates should have a demonstrable history of leading teams and implementing high-impact programs, particularly in the context of housing and community development.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with strong written, presentation, and oral communication skills. Additional languages spoken in the Asia Pacific region are preferred, as they can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

This position is full-time and may involve international travel within the Asia Pacific region. The Senior Director will work closely with various teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Habitat for Humanity’s mission and values. The role emphasizes ethical responsibilities, particularly in safeguarding vulnerable populations, and requires a commitment to creating a safe environment for all beneficiaries.
