Job Overview:
The Senior Development Director position at the American Heart Association in Charlotte, NC, is a pivotal role responsible for leading Fundraising efforts and achieving campaign goals. This position requires a strategic thinker who can coordinate, plan, and implement effective fundraising strategies while managing a team of fundraising professionals. The Senior Development Director will be instrumental in building and maintaining relationships with corporate and community partners, ensuring that the team meets or exceeds annual revenue goals. The role involves driving new Business Development, cultivating high-level sponsors, and leading Volunteer leadership committees. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing a comprehensive revenue growth plan through key fundraising events and Strategic Partnerships, ensuring that the AHA's mission is advanced in the Greater Charlotte area. This position requires daily travel within the market and a commitment to achieving impactful results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Development Director will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Achieving assigned revenue goals by developing and maintaining relationships with corporate and community partners.
- Ensuring the fundraising team meets or exceeds annual revenue goals for the market.
- Driving new business development by soliciting and maintaining high-level corporate and patron sponsors.
- Leading the identification, cultivation, and recruitment of C-suite and executive volunteer leaders.
- Building and maintaining volunteer leadership committees to support fundraising efforts.
- Maintaining an ongoing pipeline of potential sponsors, donors, and volunteer leaders to advance the AHA's mission.
- Developing and implementing a plan for revenue growth through key fundraising events, strategic market partnerships, and philanthropic donors.
- Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating assigned fundraising events according to best practices and timelines.
- Ensuring accurate and timely Data Entry of relevant information. 1
- Collaborating with staff and volunteers to promote local initiatives and optimize event strategies. 1
- Coaching and mentoring direct reports to ensure their success in achieving goals.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the Senior Development Director position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of four years of experience in fundraising or corporate-level sales, with at least two years of supervisory experience managing staff with revenue goals.
- Strong knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices, and techniques.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate top-level donors and volunteers.
- Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation.
- Willingness to work outside of standard hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned geographical territory.
Educational Background:
