Company: Green Climate FundThe Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) is a new multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat Climate Change.
GCF will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, GCF will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.
GCF is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Director" id="link" class="link">Executive Director. GCF will pursue a country-driven approach in its operations.
The Fund seeks to recruit a Sector Guides Management Consultant to join the Division of Mitigation and Adaptation (DMA) who will work remotely. The consultancy appointment will be an open contract for approximately 100 days over a 9 month period contract.
Under the supervision of Director of DMA, the Consultant will support DMA in developing a series of GCF sector guides documents. These sectoral guidance documents will coordinate GCF activities with other stakeholders, ensure maximum complementarity and impact of projects, and capture and implement the adaptation and mitigation priorities of developing countries.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of Director, the Sector Guides Management Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to: • Support the finalisation of the GCF Sector Guidelines in 2021; • Support DMA with inter-divisional co-ordination of sector guides information, documents, and consultations; • Support DMA with the inter-divisional Coordination and organization of sector guides webinar information; • Support the copy editing processes of each sector guides before and after documents are submitted; • Support DMA compiling institutional knowledge; and • Other relevant tasks as determined by the Director of DMA.
Required experience and qualifications
- Master’s level degree with minimum three years of practical experience in a related sectoral field of climate science, mitigation and adaptation; - Strong competence and professional skills in standard software such as Excel and Access; - M&E work experience for Analysis in sector guides and in organizing materials; - Hands-on experience and proficiency in Database Management and/or system programming is an asset; and - Excellent written and Oral Communication skills in English.
