Job Overview:
The Roving Head of Project position is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the development, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects aimed at maximizing the impact of Welthungerhilfe. This role is home-based but requires readiness for deployment within 14 days to respond to unforeseen assignments. The position entails a part-time commitment of 50%, with 112 assignment days per year, and offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across various countries. The Roving Head of Project will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality project implementation and maintaining the functionality of decentralized structures within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Roving Head of Project include:
- Managing projects at various levels, including Security, Logistics, Human Resources, and finance.
- Ensuring quality assurance, compliance, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) at the project level.
- Supporting the development and setup of complex projects, which includes recruiting staff, preparing operational bases for project implementation, and creating baseline studies and inception reports.
- Finalizing complex projects by preparing end reports, conducting evaluations, and overseeing the closure of project offices.
- Actively collaborating with partner organizations during project implementation and planning processes to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field such as development economics, political science, Agriculture, or geography. Additionally, they should have 3-5 years of project management experience in relevant environments, demonstrating sound management and leadership skills. Experience in Remote Management is considered an asset. Candidates should also exhibit excellent communication skills, intercultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in a multinational environment. A proactive 'can do' mentality, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure are essential.
Educational Background:
A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant subject is required for this position. Fields of study may include development economics, political science, agriculture, geography, or other related disciplines that provide a strong foundation for project management and implementation in humanitarian contexts.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of relevant project management experience. This experience should ideally be in environments that require strong leadership and management skills, particularly in the context of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Experience in remote management is beneficial, as the role may involve overseeing projects from a distance and coordinating with teams in various locations.
Languages:
Excellent spoken and written skills in both French and English are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse teams and stakeholders in various countries.
