Job Overview:
The Research Coordinator position is designed for individuals who will oversee and mentor a cohort of Francophone researchers participating in the CRVS Research and Training Program (CART) and CRVS Inequality Assessments Research (CIAR) programs. The role requires a strong background in demography and research methodologies, as the coordinator will be responsible for guiding researchers in developing their research problems, protocols, and ultimately producing publishable manuscripts. The coordinator will also ensure that the researchers are well-versed in the course materials and provide them with the necessary resources and expert guidance to succeed in their research endeavors. This position is crucial for the successful completion of research papers and the overall development of the researchers involved in the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Research Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities including:
  • Monitoring the progress of each researcher under their supervision and providing monthly reports to the Chief.
  • Supporting researchers in creatively and independently developing their research problems and protocols.
  • Being knowledgeable about course materials in Moodle to assist researchers in understanding and completing their assignments.
  • Providing or linking researchers to relevant literature and reports, offering expert guidance on CRVS themes.
  • Assisting researchers in developing feasible work plans and timely outputs aimed at producing publishable manuscripts.
  • Evaluating the progress and performance of researchers regularly and reporting findings to the Chief.
  • Ensuring methodological rigor and overseeing data Analysis and interpretation through professional meetings.
  • Conducting research seminars and workshops for the researchers.
  • Supporting researchers in developing high-quality publishable manuscripts using professional expertise in the field.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess significant experience in supervising postgraduate research students, particularly in demography and related fields. They should have a strong background in advanced statistical methods and the ability to interpret results from multivariable analyses. Additionally, experience in publishing research articles in reputable journals within the field of demography and population studies is essential. Teaching experience in demography at the postgraduate level is also required. A doctorate degree in demography, statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related quantitative subject is mandatory, along with proficiency in statistical programming and advanced statistical techniques.

Educational Background:
The position requires a doctorate degree in demography, statistics, public health, social sciences, or a related quantitative subject. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the research being conducted and for providing the necessary guidance to researchers.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in supervising research students at the postgraduate level, particularly those working on dissertations that utilize census and civil registration data. Languages:
