Job Overview:
The Registry Intern position is situated within the Information Management Unit of the ICC, specifically in the Library, Archives, and Legacy team. The intern will assist in providing essential library services to the Court's members, which includes the Presidency, Chambers, Office of the Prosecutor, and Office of the Registry. The role is designed for individuals who are in the early stages of their professional careers and are looking to gain practical experience in a multicultural and multilingual environment. The intern will be involved in various tasks that support the library's mission to meet the information needs of the Court and to facilitate legal scholarship and investigations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting the Library team with reference and circulation services, which involves managing borrowing, renewing, and reserving items, as well as registering and checking out users. The intern will respond to inquiries via email, telephone, and in person, including processing inter-library loan requests and locating online journal articles. Additional responsibilities include helping library patrons with bibliographic research, recording library statistics, shelving and labeling publications, and supporting cataloguing and classification workflows. The intern will also contribute to library projects such as creating library guides, updating the intranet/internet, and delivering training sessions. Furthermore, the intern may assist the Archives and Legacy team with the appraisal and description of materials as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognized university, with a strong academic record. While a qualification in library or Information Science is desirable, it is not mandatory. The ICC encourages applications from young information professionals who are eager to gain experience in Law" id="link" class="link">International Law librarianship. Practical experience is not a prerequisite, but relevant experience in library, legal, or research settings may be considered an asset, provided it does not exceed three years. Full training will be provided to the selected candidates.

Educational Background:
Candidates are expected to have completed or be nearing completion of a university degree. A strong academic performance is essential, and while a background in library or information science is preferred, it is not a strict requirement. The ICC values candidates who demonstrate a commitment to learning and professional development in the field of international law and library sciences.

Experience:
The position is aimed at candidates who are at the beginning of their professional careers. While prior practical experience is not essential, any relevant experience in library, legal, or research roles may enhance a candidate's application. However, such experience should not exceed three years, as the ICC is particularly interested in nurturing Young Professionals in the field.

Languages:
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, either French or English, is mandatory. A working knowledge of the other language is desirable. Additionally, knowledge of another official language of the Court, such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset. The ICC values linguistic diversity and encourages candidates with multilingual capabilities to apply.

Additional Notes:
The Internship is a full-time position with a contract duration of six months. It is important to note that the ICC does not provide any remuneration for internship placements, and candidates must be able to support themselves financially throughout the duration of the internship.
