NRC is looking for a Protection Project Manager to join the Afghanistan mission. The role holder is responsible for technical oversight, strategic direction, implementation, and quality assurance of the protection programme and its activities in NRC’s South Area Offices (Kandahar, Uruzgan, and Zabul) as well as in the Field Office (Kunduz). The role holder will be responsible for overall planning, Coordination, and implementation of all protection interventions (protection of civilians and case management).

What You Will Do

Team Management (line management of project staff; mentoring and coaching; Capacity Building and transfer of skills; and provide technical advice). Proposal Development and Strategy (development of Country, Area and Protection strategies; development of relevant Protection projects; protection strategic planning; program development; revisions and proposals; and budgets). Protection project development, initiation, participation, and implementation (activities, budgets, and project documentation). Programme Implementation and Quality (develop systems and tools to ensure collection and Analysis of data; provision of technical direction and technical quality; establish and maintain referral pathways; development of curriculum, assessments, and trainings; and capacity building and transfer of skills). Programme Management (management of the protection programme; coordinate and manage activities, budget, and project documentation in line with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements; provision of technical advice and implementation support). Logistics, Finance, and Human Resources Management (ensure team compliance and adherence to policies, Protection and project cycle management tools, handbooks, and guidelines; and timely and accurate development of procurement plans, recruitment plans, and spending plans). Coordination and Representation (represent the organization in external coordination forums; liaise and collaborate with authorities and other key stakeholders).

What You Will Bring

Bachelor’s degree. Senior project management experience position in a development or humanitarian/recovery programming environment. Field-based humanitarian protection (community-based protection/case management) experience. Needs Assessment, project Monitoring and Evaluation, and programme development experience. Access negotiation and representation track record. Southern Afghanistan context and humanitarian community response experience and knowledge. High risk, insecure, opaque, complex, and volatile context exposure. English fluency, both written and verbal. Knowledge of the local language (Pashto).

What We Offer

Kandahar, Afghanistan duty station. 2023 contract duration (renewable, subjecting to funding and need). 30% travel, approximately. Grade 8 in NRC’s Salary Scale.
