DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for over a decade, running a combination of emergency, livelihood, protection and advocacy programmes through Country Offices (COs) in Algeria, Libya/Tunisia, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey with a Regional Office (RO) in Amman. DRC has 17 offices and approximately one thousand staff members across the MENA region. Following an internal HQ restructuring, from 1st January 2018 the region is focusing on the Middle East, hence Algeria, Tunisia and Libya will transition to a new region during the course Overall purpose of the role: Implementing Community Based Protection (CBP) activities including awareness raising, structured Psychosocial-support" id="link" class="link">Psychosocial Support (PSS), unstructured PSS to support people of concern (PoCs), and raising protection concerns and PSS gaps observed during direct contact with beneficiaries.


  • The Outreach worker in Coordination with CBP Assistants will plan, schedule, and conduct recreational, psychosocial and awareness activities with children, youth and adults both in the centers and through outreach.
  • Conducting the mentioned activities in a participatory way that promotes and encourages Community Participation and inclusion of the most vulnerable groups.
  • Identify and invite community members to participate in the activities and projects of the Danish Refugee Council - psychosocial support interventions, life-skills and awareness sessions on social and legal issues and protection monitoring.
  • Logistical preparations for activities such as preparing the tools used in the activities and identify the safe places of the events.
  • Conduct Community Mobilization and assist in scheduling events with community leaders.
  • Support the implementation of focused group discussions
  • Organizing the documentation of the activities including registration forms, attendance sheets, and any other forms that need to be filled, and saving the work paper in a safe organized locker.
  • Provide referral linkages for families in need of other forms of support or special assistance in coordination with the Protection Assistants.
  • Maintain all machines and tools used in the activities that are owned by DRC after completion of the project period.
  • Maintain positive work relationship within the team and promote team-building efforts in coordination with the CBP Officer.
  • Participate in training and coaching as required on services, relevant SOPs, and the data filing and storing procedures.
  • Adhering to the Code of Conduct of the Danish Refugee Council, which signed separately from the contract while maintaining complete confidentiality regarding participants and workshop.
  • Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the CBP Officer
Experience and technical competencies:
  • Previous experience in direct implemintation of PSS activities with beneficiaries (preferably not less than a year)
  • High communication skills and flexibility
  • Deep understanding of the work context and norms and traditions in the area

  • PSS training on curriculums such as IDEAL, child resiliance, Win-Win Deal, Little fellow is an advantage.
  • Awareness protection training.
