Job Overview:
The Protection Officer (Information Management & Case Management) plays a crucial role in implementing the protection portfolio of NRC in Myitkyina, Myanmar. This position involves independent management of protection case management activities, ensuring adherence to established procedures and international standards. The officer will be responsible for conducting protection monitoring, advocating for clients' rights, and maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive information. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including Local Communities, service providers, and government agencies, to ensure effective support for clients. The officer will also contribute to program planning and evaluation processes, ensuring quality service delivery and impact measurement. This position demands a proactive approach to identifying and addressing the protection needs of vulnerable individuals and communities, particularly focusing on children, youth, and women.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Protection Officer include adhering to NRC policies and guidelines, implementing protection case management activities, organizing and delivering tasks according to established procedures, and conducting protection monitoring in designated areas. The officer will advocate for clients' rights, develop knowledge of protection issues, and contribute to program planning and evaluation. Specific responsibilities include building trust with target communities, conducting assessments of individuals' protection needs, developing individualized protection plans, providing ongoing case management support, raising awareness on protection issues, maintaining accurate and confidential case records, and collaborating with other service providers. The officer will also support the training of NRC staff in Data Collection tools and assist in the preparation of reports and cash assistance lists.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires a university degree in computer sciences, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field. Candidates should possess excellent skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with experience working directly with affected communities in a humanitarian context. Previous experience in protection and information management roles, as well as knowledge of international standards and protection principles, is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a challenging environment is crucial, along with empathy and resilience in dealing with sensitive issues.
Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a university degree in a relevant field such as computer sciences, information systems, or information technology. This educational background is essential for understanding data collection methods and effectively managing information related to protection case management.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have prior experience working in complex and volatile contexts, particularly in protection and information management roles.
