Job Overview:
The Protection Monitoring and Case Management Assistant will work under the overall supervision of the National Programme Officer (Protection) and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate (Protection). The role involves supporting protection monitoring and case management activities, which are critical for ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable populations. The incumbent will be responsible for clerical assistance in project implementation, data retrieval and presentation, administrative Coordination, and the collection of protection information through various methods such as interviews and surveys. The position requires a proactive approach to support the organization of meetings and training sessions, as well as responding to inquiries and maintaining records related to protection cases. The assistant will also assist in identifying service gaps and advocating for necessary interventions at the inter-agency level, making this role vital for effective protection strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide general and clerical assistance in the implementation of project activities, specifically focusing on protection case management and monitoring.
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific protection interventions using KOBO and other reporting tools.
- Assist the Senior Project Associate (SPA) in implementing activities and fulfilling reporting requirements.
- Support administrative coordination for project implementation, liaising with various organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, and process administrative actions related to protection screening and case management.
- Regularly collect protection information through interviews, surveys, and focus group discussions with affected populations.
- Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to protection activities.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries, maintaining files and records of protection cases and supporting referrals for clients.
- Assist the SPA in identifying service gaps and advocating for necessary actions at the inter-agency level.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in political science, social science, International Relations, development studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with one year of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma and three years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. Experience in protection case management and monitoring, particularly with returnees in the Afghan context, is essential. Candidates should have experience conducting interviews with at-risk individuals and referring them to appropriate services based on their needs. Familiarity with KOBO for Data Entry and experience working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups is also required. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting is advantageous.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in political science, social science, international relations, development studies, human rights, law, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a high school diploma with three years of relevant experience is acceptable. The educational background should be from an accredited academic institution, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the relevant fields.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least one year of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or three years if they have a high school diploma. Experience should include protection case management and monitoring, particularly in the context of returnees in Afghanistan. Familiarity with conducting interviews and referring individuals to services based on their needs is crucial. Experience with KOBO for data entry and working with vulnerable populations such as migrants and refugees is also necessary. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural environment is considered an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for all applicants. Additionally, a working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.
