Job Overview:
The Project Manager position is crucial for overseeing the successful delivery of projects within the UNOPS framework. The role involves developing and implementing project plans, ensuring that all activities align with the strategic objectives of the organization. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing resources, timelines, and stakeholder engagement, while also ensuring compliance with organizational policies and quality standards. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying risks and opportunities, as well as a commitment to fostering collaboration among team members and stakeholders. The Project Manager will also play a key role in Knowledge Management and innovation, contributing to the continuous improvement of project management practices within UNOPS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Delivery and Performance: Develop and update implementation plans, manage project outputs, ensure quality compliance, and monitor project progress.
- Procedures: Comply with organizational policies, manage budgets and cash flow, and support project audits.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Prepare regular project reports, evaluate performance criteria, and maintain project documentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop stakeholder profiles, establish relationships with key stakeholders, and coordinate project communications.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with audit requirements and coordinate quality reviews of project documents.
- Knowledge Management and Innovation: Encourage capacity building, share best practices, and contribute to lessons learned procedures.
- Personnel Management: Lead and motivate the project management team, conduct performance reviews, and ensure safety and security for all personnel.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Project Management, International Relations, Development Studies, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, or Business. A Bachelor's degree combined with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Certification in Project Management (such as PRINCE2 or PMI) is considered an asset, and candidates must complete UNOPS PMM and oneUNOPS Projects training within three months of joining.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Project Management, International Relations, Development Studies, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, or Business. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and additional relevant work experience may also be considered. Proof of studies, including diplomas and certifications, must be uploaded when submitting the application.
Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in implementing complex projects or programs is required. Candidates should have a track record of supporting elections, including Logistics and procurement services in at least two different contexts. Experience in engaging high-level government authorities and working in developing countries or post-conflict environments is desirable. Previous experience with UNOPS in project management is also an asset, along with skills in report writing, data Analysis, and technical documentation.
Languages:
Proficiency in French is essential for this position, while an intermediate level of English is required. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to engage with diverse stakeholders and project teams.
