Job Overview:
The Program Manager for Health System Strengthening (HSS) at CHAI is expected to drive the success of the HSS program by working closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) in Zimbabwe. This role requires a highly motivated individual with strong public health experience and analytical skills. The Program Manager will be responsible for implementing strategies that promote universal health coverage, collaboration, and Coordination within the Health Sector. The position demands an entrepreneurial mindset, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to producing results. The successful candidate will engage in high-level strategic discussions and support various tasks, large or small, while being based in Harare and traveling to provinces approximately 30% of the time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Manager will have a range of responsibilities including: working closely with the MoHCC to strengthen the Design and implementation of HSS programs; identifying new opportunities for CHAI to maximize impact; leading Business Development efforts to secure additional funding; coordinating with other HSS partners and establishing new partnerships; developing clear annual work plans; monitoring program activities against project goals; leading collaboration between CHAI teams; overseeing financial management of the program; managing human resources within the HSS team; developing communication materials and representing CHAI at public forums; and performing any other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as medicine, public health, health economics, financial management, or business. A postgraduate degree in public health or related fields is preferred. Additionally, at least 5 years of Program Management experience in complex, results-oriented environments is required, along with experience in health systems strengthening and Capacity Building. Candidates should demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations. Strong communication skills and experience working with government officials and multilateral organizations are also essential.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a postgraduate degree in public health, health economics, development studies, or social sciences.
