Job Overview:
The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke position is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, specifically aimed at enhancing the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases in South Dakota. This role involves implementing quality improvement programs that align with the AHA's guidelines, educating healthcare providers, and motivating them to adopt best practices in clinical processes. The consultant will work closely with various healthcare sites, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders. This position is home-based, allowing for flexibility while still requiring active engagement with healthcare facilities and teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Program Consultant include driving the implementation of quality improvement projects, providing consultation and support to healthcare providers, and facilitating learning cohorts to enhance patient outcomes. The consultant will develop Program Implementation strategies, serve as a resource for hospitals and clinics, and establish sustainability plans for grant components. Additionally, the role involves creating clinical decision support tools, recruiting program participants, and collaborating with clinical teams to overcome barriers to guideline adoption. Regular communication with the Senior Manager is essential to ensure that tasks align with grant timelines, and the consultant will manage project documentation, including budgets and status reports for both internal and external audiences.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or Public Health-related organization. Experience in a post-acute clinical setting, particularly related to stroke care, is preferred. Proficiency in Project Management, including budget and timeline management, is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office applications are also necessary, and candidates should be willing to travel up to 15% for work-related purposes.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required, with equivalent work experience considered in lieu of formal education. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training related to healthcare quality improvement, clinical practices, or public health.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in healthcare settings, particularly in roles that involve quality improvement, program development, or clinical support. Experience in a post-acute care environment is highly desirable, as it directly relates to the responsibilities of the role.

While the job posting does not specify mandatory languages, proficiency in English is essential for effective communication. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position funded by grants, with current funding set to expire on June 30, 2027, although there is potential for extension. The role offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and retirement plans. Employees are entitled to a minimum of 16 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year, increasing with seniority, as well as 12 paid holidays. The AHA also supports professional development through tuition assistance and access to their corporate university, HeartU.
