Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer position is crucial for the World Food Programme's operations in Lebanon, particularly in the context of the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis and the economic challenges faced by the country. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day partnership activities, analytical work, and research, which are essential for effectively positioning WFP with public, private, and external partners. This role involves attracting policy support, resources, technical assistance, and innovative solutions to advance WFP's mission. The officer will work closely with senior staff to ensure that WFP's contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Zero Hunger initiative are highlighted and supported. The position requires a proactive approach to managing partnerships and leveraging insights to enhance WFP's impact in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnerships Officer will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting Information Management and performance reporting activities; contributing to the establishment and presentation of a standard operating picture of WFP's program portfolio and associated results; analyzing donor contributions and providing trends and forecasts; conducting Desk Research to support program and project proposals; drafting donor profiles and developing a stakeholder contact list; gathering and sharing socio-political insights and partner intelligence; preparing presentations and briefs for donor meetings; monitoring and tracking donor opportunities and contributions; maintaining oversight of the unit's resource mobilization and Donor Relations portfolio; and improving data flow to strengthen analytical functions. This role is integral to ensuring that WFP can effectively mobilize resources and maintain strong relationships with its partners.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Partnerships Officer position should possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of partnership dynamics within the humanitarian sector. They should be adept at managing multiple tasks and priorities, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving. Familiarity with WFP's mission and operations, as well as experience in donor relations and resource mobilization, are highly desirable. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage with various stakeholders is essential for success in this role.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in International Relations, public Administration, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Candidates should have a solid understanding of humanitarian principles and the operational context of WFP's work, particularly in Lebanon.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in partnership management, donor relations, or resource mobilization within the humanitarian or development sectors. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, particularly in a context similar to Lebanon, is highly valued. Proven track record in analytical work and research, as well as experience in preparing reports and presentations for high-level stakeholders, is essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable. Knowledge of French or other languages relevant to the region would be considered an asset, as it would enhance communication with diverse partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
This position is based in Beirut and is part of the Government Partnerships team within the WFP Lebanon Country Office. The role is full-time and may involve occasional travel within the country to engage with partners and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a collaborative and dynamic work environment, supporting WFP's mission to alleviate hunger and improve the lives of vulnerable populations in Lebanon.
