We have been building powerful partnerships for children for more than 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries ** Plan International began working in the Pacific in 2012 and has offices and staff in Solomon Islands (SI) and PNG, in Bougainville and is in the process of establishing a regional office in Suva, Fiji.

The Opportunity Plan is seeking to hire a Pacific Human Resources Manager, who will lead and manage Plan International Pacific’s human resources function and will closely collaborate with the APAC HR and OD Partner. In this generalist role, the incumbent will be responsible for establishing and embedding high quality HR processes and policies including but not limited to: Staff Planning, Recruitment and Selection, Contracting and Onboarding, Orientation, Performance Management, Learning and Development, Employee Relations and Pay and Benefits and will ensure their alignment with Plan International people and culture strategies and direction globally and in the Pacific. As a member of the Pacific Management Team (PMT), you will establish sound HR strategy and work towards Plan Pacific becoming the employer of choice therefore attracting talented individuals who are committed to delivering and promoting Plan’s vision and mission in the Pacific. In this role, you will also be responsible for promoting and ensuring compliance with principles and practices on Gender Equality and child safeguarding.

Do you have what it takes to be successful in this role?
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a generalist Human Resources Management professional
  • Significant experience in any or all of the ff: Payroll Management, Recruitment and Selection, Pay and Benefits Administration, Performance Management and HR Policies formulation, Learning and Development
  • Excellent knowledge of labour laws in Fiji, Solomon Islands and PNG
  • Excellent knowledge of HR best practices and trends globally
  • Excellent knowledge of job evaluation systems and Design of competitive salary and benefits packages.
  • Experience in working in/with diverse teams, multilocational setting and in managing remote work
  • Experience in organisational design and structure process.
  • Ability to negotiate, advocate and influence effectively
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Fluency in local language and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent team management, interpersonal skills, ability to build strong networks
  • Ability to handle sensitive people issues with tact and diplomacy, to listen, coach and Counsel, lead and manage change effectively.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR surge management or humanitarian HR is an advantage
  • Experience in development sector is highly desirable
  • Training development and facilitation, including team building.
  • 5 years in similar role in INGO in any of the Pacific Countries
  • Secondary language as required. Typically language spoken in the Pacific
