Job Overview:
The Network Engineer will be a vital member of the Information Systems Unit (ISU) at the IEA, responsible for managing and supporting the organization's network and security systems. This role involves working under the supervision of the Head of ISU in a dynamic IT environment, where the engineer will manage the local area network (LAN), internet access, and network security systems. The position requires ensuring high availability of network services, integrating IT services, and providing expert support for troubleshooting network-related issues. The engineer will also monitor network performance, security logs, and respond to security incidents, contributing to the overall IT operation and supporting hybrid network environments and cloud service integration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Manage the LAN, including switches, routers, wireless networks, and network access control solutions.
- Oversee internet access and services, as well as network security systems, including firewalls, VPN, and DNS.
- Ensure high availability of all network services (LAN/WAN) and improve network Design as necessary.
- Integrate IT services and support system administrators with network integration of servers, storage, virtualization infrastructure, and applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure technical issues to maintain optimal availability and reliability of IT operations.
- Support the hybrid network environment and secure integration with cloud services (Azure, M365).
- Monitor network performance and resilience, identifying and remedying performance issues.
- Analyze security logs and alerts from cybersecurity systems to respond to security incidents promptly.
- Carry out additional duties as required to support the overall IT operation.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Recognized professional IT certification.
- A minimum of 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in network and security engineering.
- Strong knowledge of high availability data center networks and campus networking technologies, including Cisco (IOS/NX-O switches, routers, L2) and Aruba (switches, wireless technologies, network access control).
- Proficiency in enterprise internet access and information services, with thorough knowledge of TCP/IP and DNS.
- Experience in implementing network security, firewalls, and Policy Management.
- Familiarity with secure VPN access, conditional access controls, and multi-factor authentication is advantageous.
- Experience with on-premises and cloud-based tools for threat protection, vulnerability management, and intrusion detection is a plus.
Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Additionally, recognized professional IT certifications are required to validate the candidate's expertise in the field.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in network and security engineering. Candidates should have a strong background in operating high availability data center networks and campus networking technologies, demonstrating their ability to manage complex network environments effectively.
Languages:
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) is mandatory, along with a willingness to learn the other language. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
Additional Notes:
The position is a 2-year fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal. The monthly salary starts at 5,044.88 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, and is exempt from French income tax. The selection process includes written tests and video-recorded interviews in mid-December, followed by panel interviews planned for February 202
