Job Overview:
The National Director, Program Development, Health Science, Resuscitation is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, responsible for leading the Resuscitation Science function. This position involves collaborating with Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) volunteers to oversee the development of ECC guidelines and the corresponding scientific review for ECC products. The director will play a crucial role in shaping the future of resuscitation science, ensuring that the AHA remains at the forefront of advancements in this critical area of health. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage ECC Volunteer committees, guiding the development process for clinical guidelines and ensuring adherence to scientific rigor.
- Oversee the ECC science review process for Product Development, ensuring that all materials meet the highest standards of evidence-based practice.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to gather input and share information, leveraging diverse skills for effective problem-solving and decision-making.
- Communicate clearly and compellingly across various settings, adapting communication styles to suit different audiences while maintaining professionalism.
- Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, meeting customer needs and adapting to changes in the healthcare landscape.
- Set ambitious goals for the Resuscitation Science function, track progress using metrics, and embrace feedback for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities such as decisiveness, accountability, and a growth mindset, providing timely feedback and taking calculated risks to drive innovation.
Required Qualifications:
- A PhD, MD, DO, MBBS, or clinical equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in health science, particularly in resuscitation or emergency medicine.
- Proven experience in writing and managing clinical guidelines and conducting systematic reviews.
- Strong background in product development and volunteer management.
- Exceptional skills in inspiring change and fostering a sense of belonging among volunteers, effectively assessing and leveraging their skills and interests.
- Proficiency in building trust and enhancing volunteer engagement through proactive relationship building and training initiatives.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including overnight stays as necessary.
