Job Overview:
The Medical Officer position entails providing comprehensive outpatient services, including maternal and Child Health care, management of non-Communicable Diseases, and facilitating hospital referrals. The incumbent will conduct medical examinations for various purposes, including special hardship assistance and periodic evaluations of staff. The role also involves managing the assigned health center, overseeing service organization, personnel supervision, Supply Management, and reporting. The Medical Officer will supervise medical, nursing, and para-medical staff, evaluate their performance, and maintain relationships with the local community and authorities. Ensuring the availability of medicines and medical supplies, conducting training for staff, and performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor are also key responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Officer will be responsible for:
- Providing general outpatient services and specialized services, including maternal and child health care and management of non-communicable diseases.
- Conducting medical examinations for applicants seeking special hardship assistance, newly recruited staff, and existing staff during periodic evaluations.
- Managing the assigned health center, including organizing services, supervising personnel, managing supplies, and reporting.
- Supervising the work of medical, nursing, and para-medical staff, evaluating their performance, and ensuring quality care.
- Maintaining relationships with Local Communities and authorities to foster collaboration and support.
- Ensuring the availability of medicines and medical supplies, overseeing ordering and receipt, and managing expired items.
- Participating in on-the-job and in-service training for staff according to approved plans.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid medical degree from an accredited institution, including a minimum of twelve months of Internship experience. A valid license to practice medicine in the duty station is required where applicable. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a good command of spoken and written English and Arabic. It is essential to specify the current location of the applicant, particularly for those residing in the duty station. For candidates with senior experience, it is necessary to detail the number of staff supervised in previous roles.
Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a medical degree from an accredited educational institution, which must include an internship of at least twelve months in duration. This foundational education is critical for ensuring that the Medical Officer is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality medical care and supervision.
Experience:
Candidates are required to have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional working experience in the medical field. Additional Notes:
This position is a Fixed-Term Appointment for three years, including a one-year probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The role is classified at Grade HL07, with a monthly salary of JD 1663.10 Fils, plus a Special Occupational Allowance (15%) of the basic salary. Additional benefits include a Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary), compulsory medical insurance, 36 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance subject to eligibility. Sick leave is granted at a rate of 2.4 days for each completed month of service, with provisions for maternity and paternity leave. The duty station is in various field locations in Jordan, and candidates must reside within commuting distance of the duty station and have authorization to work in Jordan at the time of application. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote Gender Parity within the agency.
