Job Overview:
The Medical Coordinator Support plays a crucial role in the effective management of medical programs within MSF. This position involves working closely with the Medical Coordinator to ensure that medical activities are implemented efficiently and that quality care is provided to patients and communities. The role requires a dynamic individual who can oversee the implementation of medical activities, manage resources, and ensure compliance with MSF's medical protocols. The Medical Coordinator Support will also collaborate with local and national authorities to align with health policies and ensure adherence to established medical standards. This position is integral to the operational success of MSF's medical initiatives and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and team management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Medical Coordinator Support include monitoring, supervising, and evaluating the implementation of medical activities across various projects. This involves visiting project sites to assess Human Resource, material, and technical needs. The individual will ensure adherence to MSF protocols, (para)medical standards, hygiene rules, and universal precautions. Responsibilities also include collecting and analyzing epidemiological data and information on national health policies, overseeing the medical follow-up of patients in collaboration with medical staff, and managing treatments, patient discharges, and associated medical expenses. The Medical Coordinator Support will support and supervise project teams, participate in the recruitment, training, and management of the medical team, and conduct briefings, debriefings, and performance evaluations. Additionally, the role involves applying employee health policies, evaluating hospital structures, monitoring the health of MSF personnel, and overseeing medical expenses for consultations and hospitalizations. The individual will also participate in the management of the central Pharmacy and guide the Logistics team in drug stock management, collect and archive project data, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Other duties may be assigned by the Medical Coordinator, including field team support or involvement in evaluations.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Medical Doctor diploma or an equivalent qualification in a related allied health field. Candidates should have training or experience in tropical medicine and/or public health, as well as Emergency experience. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role is essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent command of both English and French, with knowledge of local languages considered an asset. Essential computer literacy in programs such as Word, Excel, and Internet is also required.
Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Medical Doctor diploma or an equivalent qualification in a related allied health field. Additional training or experience in tropical medicine and/or public health is highly desirable, as is emergency experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of medical care in challenging environments.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, particularly in medical Coordination or a similar role. Experience working in a developing country is essential, as it provides the necessary context for understanding the challenges faced in delivering healthcare in such settings. Candidates should also have experience in managing medical teams and overseeing medical activities.
Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of local languages is considered an asset, as it can facilitate communication with patients and local authorities, enhancing the effectiveness of medical programs.
