With approximately 6000 employees, NRC operates across four continents and manages the world's largest standby roster, NORCAP, which consists of 650 professionals ready for deployment within 72 hours during crises. NRC began its operations in Iran in 2012 and has since expanded its humanitarian assistance to 10 provinces, focusing on education, food security, livelihoods, WASH, shelter construction, and legal assistance. The organization also plays a significant role in advocacy efforts to improve the rights of displaced individuals in Iran, particularly in support of the Afghan population residing in the country.
Job Overview:
The Logistics Team Leader is responsible for implementing delegated areas of logistic responsibility and overseeing a variety of procurement and logistics-related activities. This includes managing warehouse operations, fleet management, distribution, and Asset Management. The role requires compliance with NRC policies, donor guidelines, and anti-corruption policies. The Logistics Team Leader will coordinate operational planning and management of logistics activities, ensuring that local SOPs are adhered to and conducting periodic checks. The position also involves market assessments, report preparation, and supporting line managers with logistics-related training. The Logistics Team Leader will manage the logistics team, including recruitment and performance management, while ensuring transparency and cost-efficiency in all processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Team Leader will lead and monitor procurement activities in accordance with NRC’s SOP and Logistics Handbook. Responsibilities include reviewing contracts, purchase orders, and payments to ensure compliance with supporting documents. The leader will maintain an accurate NRC asset list at both area and field levels and oversee all logistical procedures followed by projects. They will check all logistic folders and documents before signature to ensure compliance with NRC and donor regulations. The role requires setting up Framework Agreements at the area level, responding to spot checks on transactions, and ensuring quality and cost efficiency for procurements. The Logistics Team Leader will prepare and submit logistic-related reports in line with donor requirements, assist the Logistics Manager in preparing reports for audits, conduct regular field visits for compliance checks, and support partner organizations in Capacity Development regarding procurement processes. Additionally, the leader will be accountable for the successful Capacity Building of the logistics team and disseminate relevant logistics information to guide decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have experience working as a Logistic Coordinator or senior officer, preferably in a humanitarian or recovery context. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is essential, along with documented results related to the position's responsibilities. Knowledge of leadership skills and fluency in English and Persian (Farsi) are mandatory. Candidates should possess people and team management capabilities, Conflict Management skills, and knowledge of Iran's market in various sectors. A university degree in supply chain management, business Administration, marketing, or a related field is preferred. Work experience in supply chain management, including procurement, price negotiation, Contract Management, and asset management, is required. The ability to train others, facilitate workshops, and transfer knowledge is also necessary, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and any ERP system.
Educational Background:
A university degree is required, preferably in supply chain management, business administration, marketing, or a similar field. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of logistics and procurement processes within the humanitarian context.
Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience in logistics Coordination, particularly in humanitarian settings. Experience in managing logistics in complex and volatile contexts is crucial, as is a proven track record of successful project management and team leadership. The ability to navigate challenging environments and maintain operational efficiency is essential for this role.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory. Proficiency in Persian (Farsi) is also required, as it is essential for effective communication within the local context. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
