Job Overview:
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for establishing and implementing logistics systems and procedures for the NRC Area North office in Maiduguri. This role involves supervising and building the capacity of the logistics team, ensuring compliance with NRC's logistics policies, and maintaining transparency and cost efficiency in all logistics processes. The officer will also be tasked with preparing reports and supporting market surveys and assessments, ensuring that all Logistics Operations align with NRC's standards and donor requirements. The position requires a proactive approach to managing logistics operations in a complex and volatile context, with a focus on supporting humanitarian efforts effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will oversee various logistics functions including procurement, fleet management, Asset Management, and warehousing. Key responsibilities include ensuring that all procurements comply with NRC policies and donor regulations, managing the fleet of vehicles, maintaining an updated asset register, and supporting warehousing operations. Specific tasks include checking and receiving purchase requisitions, preparing and issuing purchase orders, managing vehicle maintenance and documentation, tracking assets, conducting stock checks in warehouses, and ensuring proper documentation for all logistics activities. The officer will also be responsible for preparing weekly and monthly reports for the Logistics Coordinator and conducting market surveys to identify reliable suppliers.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in business Administration or a related field. Previous experience as a Logistics Officer in a humanitarian or recovery context is essential, along with documented results related to the position's responsibilities. Strong organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and good communication skills are required. Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Hausa is considered an asset.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the logistics processes and management required in a humanitarian context.
Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience working as a Logistics Officer, particularly in complex and volatile environments. This experience is vital for effectively managing logistics operations and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Hausa is considered an asset, which may enhance communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, with a contract duration of 3 months, which is renewable based on performance and organizational needs. This role is classified as Grade 5 in NRC's grading structure and reports directly to the Logistics Coordinator.
