Job Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for steering the logistical activities of the mission to ensure that Solidarités International's in-Country Programs run smoothly. This role involves implementing mission procedures and logistical tools, ensuring adherence to these processes, and participating in defining the mission strategy. The Logistics Coordinator also plays a crucial role in operational security management and serves as the primary point of contact between the mission and headquarters regarding logistics. Daily responsibilities include Supply Management, vehicle fleet management, equipment management, stock management, Human Resource management, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Coordinator will face challenges such as supply shortages, difficulties in international freight, price volatility, and the need for flexibility in logistics implementation due to changing programmatic needs. Key responsibilities include training the logistics team on SI tools and procedures, finding new opportunities for international freight, managing the supply chain, overseeing vehicle and equipment management, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and maintaining effective communication with the Field Coordinator and Director" id="link" class="link">Country Director. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a high-stress environment.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a strong command of logistics procedures and proven experience in developing and implementing logistics systems. Specific skills required include problem-solving and analytical abilities, knowledge of Solidarités International's rules and procedures, and the capacity to multitask and work under pressure. Previous experience in Palestine or in Complex Emergencies is considered an asset, along with good stress management skills and a commitment to SI's ethical principles.
Educational Background:
A background in logistics, transport, warehousing, IT, supply chain management, or a related field is essential. Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of relevant logistics and management experience in Emergency or development contexts at an international level.
Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant experience in logistics and management, particularly in emergency or development settings. Experience in high-stress environments and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations are crucial.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is considered a strong asset, enhancing communication within the local context.
Additional Notes:
This is a short-term contract position with an expected start date of November 20, 2024, lasting for two months. The salary starts from EUR 2,860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided. Accommodation costs and travel expenses are covered by SI. The position includes a break system of 7 working days every two months, with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Living conditions in Gaza are challenging due to ongoing conflict and disruptions to basic services, leading to a high-stress working environment.
