ICMP supports the work of other organizations in their efforts, encourages public involvement in its activities and contributes to the development of appropriate expressions of commemoration and tribute to the missing. The Opportunity

The Interpreter/Translator will support ICMP by providing accurate and timely written and verbal Translation from/into Russian/English and English/Russian, Ukrainian/English and English/ Ukrainian;

The main duties of the Interpreter/Translator will include the following:

  • Provide interpretation and translation support during trainings, workshops and seminars (in-person and online)
  • Translate training materials from Russian/Ukrainian to English and vice versa
  • Contribute to the creation of glossary and any other relevant tool or process to ensure the consistent use of terminology across the organization
  • Review translated material for accuracy of meaning, grammar and syntax

    Requirements

    • Professionally fluent in written and spoken English, Russian and Ukrainian
    • At least 6 years of professional experience providing translation/interpretation services in roundtables, high level meetings, training and/or workshop environment
    • Experience providing translation both in-person and online
    • Ability to translate both consecutively and simultaneously
    • Ability to travel within Ukraine and potentially to The Netherlands
    • Ability to work irregular hours and on short notice
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time
    • Computer with standard software package (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a web camera, speaker and headphones
    • Access to reliable internet

      Skills

      • Tact, discretion and ability to handle confidential information
      • Strong presentation skills and business acumen
      • Computer literacy, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
      • Proven ability to interact positively with people regardless of position, culture, nationality or gender
      • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
      • Capacity and willingness to work in sometimes challenging circumstances

        Benefits
        This is a full-time fixed term position with a competitive base salary based in the Ukraine at the LES 6 level on the ICMP Ukraine salary scale, generous paid leave, and extensive health insurance benefits for the incumbent and any eligible dependent.         This position is not eligible for expatriate allowances.

        Expected start date: ASAP
