Job Overview:
The Internship Position is designed to assist the Geographic Manager, the Program Referent of the Desk, and the Accountability and Donor Development Officer in executing administrative tasks necessary for managing missions and programs, as well as in the operational follow-up of programs implemented in the field. Interns will gain insight into the workings of an NGO and understand the relationship between headquarters and Field Operations. They will learn about various programs and areas of expertise of Solidarites International, the humanitarian and geopolitical context of the affected areas, and the specific expectations of donors. The internship aims to provide practical experience in project management and financing cycles while maintaining direct contact with field personnel and understanding the strategic operations of an NGO.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Intern will be responsible for updating monthly tools such as program sheets and operational maps. Under the supervision of the Program Manager and CRDB, the intern will ensure the follow-up of missions and field requests. They will participate in the revision of project proposals and reports intended for donors, providing critical feedback. The intern will also assist in reviewing donor contracts and partnership agreements, ensuring compliance with reporting deadlines set by donors through project-related reporting schedules. Responsibilities include managing both paper and electronic archiving of mission-related documents, participating in various briefings and debriefings for expatriates going on missions, contributing to expatriate briefings, attending weekly and monthly Desk meetings, collaborating with other assistants to organize and maintain the network, maintaining contact with missions in the absence of responsible personnel, translating various documents between English, Spanish, and French, and contributing to specific programmatic or technical projects.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree (bac +5) preferably focused on project management and/or humanitarian work, political science, or International Relations, with a preference for knowledge in water issues, food security, or rehabilitation. A genuine interest and motivation for the non-profit and humanitarian sector is essential, along with a willingness to work in the field in the short term. Previous international work experience is appreciated. Candidates should have strong writing, synthesis, and spelling skills, as well as critical thinking and analytical abilities. Autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, organization, efficiency, and the capacity to work under pressure are also required. Proficiency in Computer Applications such as Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet, and email (Outlook) is necessary.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master's degree (bac +5) in fields related to project management, humanitarian studies, political science, or international relations. Knowledge of issues related to water, food security, or rehabilitation is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in relevant subjects.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some level of experience, particularly in international settings. While specific years of experience are not mandated, any previous work or internship experience in humanitarian contexts or related fields will be considered an asset. This experience will help candidates understand the complexities of humanitarian work and the operational challenges faced by NGOs.
Languages:
Fluency in French, English, and Spanish is mandatory for this position. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in all three languages, both verbally and in writing. This multilingual capability is essential for interacting with diverse teams and stakeholders in various countries where SI operates.
Additional Notes:
The internship is based at the headquarters of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Clichy (92), accessible via the Mairie de Clichy metro station. The internship is for a duration of 6 months, starting on December 1
- Interns will receive a stipend of €4.90 per hour, calculated based on actual hours worked each month (approximately 154 hours per month, equivalent to 22 days of 7 hours each). Public transport costs will be reimbursed at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL, and interns will receive meal vouchers worth €8.90 per day worked, with a 60% contribution from the organization.
