Job Overview:
The Internship Position is designed for individuals with a strong interest in International Relations who wish to engage with Humanitarian Action in a practical manner. The Intern will work autonomously and will be expected to possess strong writing and synthesis skills, as well as an appreciation for diverse tasks. Responsibilities include drafting synthesis notes, participating in events, conducting research on geopolitical themes related to humanitarian action, and managing a website and its communication. The intern will assist the founder of the organization in advocacy efforts to raise awareness about humanitarian issues among policymakers and the public, particularly through the 'Défis Humanitaires' website. The role also involves monitoring humanitarian crises and supporting the founder's initiatives through relevant research and participation in various humanitarian-related meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for managing the 'Défis Humanitaires' website, which includes tasks such as proofreading and publishing articles, conducting interviews, creating newsletters, formatting the website, sourcing images, and translating content. Daily management of the website will involve overseeing Social Media, tracking Fundraising efforts, disseminating articles, and monitoring website statistics. The intern will conduct research on the humanitarian ecosystem, its environment, actors, and partners, as well as support advocacy efforts related to access to clean water and humanitarian funding. Additional responsibilities include drafting synthesis notes, meeting minutes, and reports from conferences and webinars. The intern will also assist in preparing various humanitarian events attended by the founder and will be expected to adapt to evolving international circumstances and ongoing projects.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Bac+3/4/5 level education in International Relations, Geopolitics, or Political Science. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of an additional language is considered a plus. Candidates should have strong computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Familiarity with WordPress is also advantageous. Essential qualities include autonomy, good organizational skills, responsiveness, and strong writing and synthesis abilities.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a Bac+3 level in fields related to International Relations, Geopolitics, or Political Science. This level of education ensures that candidates have a foundational understanding of the complexities involved in humanitarian work and international relations, which is crucial for the tasks they will undertake during the internship.
Experience:
While prior experience in the humanitarian sector is not required, candidates should demonstrate motivation and a willingness to learn. The internship is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in humanitarian action and international relations, making it suitable for students or recent graduates looking to enter the field.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another language is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication and research capabilities within the diverse contexts in which SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL operates.
Additional Notes:
The internship is based at the headquarters of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Clichy, with the possibility of remote work. The internship duration is six months, starting in early November. Interns will receive a stipend of 4.90 euros per hour, calculated based on actual hours worked each month. Transportation costs will be reimbursed at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL. Additionally, interns will receive meal vouchers worth 8.90 euros per day worked, with SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL contributing 60% of the cost.
