Job Description

CORE FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Support the elaboration of national profiles to form a Regional Compendium of Sources of Migration Data for Central America, North America and the Caribbean (see example for Mexico), an initiative which looks to strengthen the regional evidence base on migration by way of an extensive Mapping of sources of migration data and related topics in countries in the region, with a focus on national-level administrative, census and survey data produced and published by governments.

2. As part of building national profiles, search for and collate links to sources of data on migration and associated thematic areas, writing a short description of each source and classifying the source by thematic area alongside information on coverage and update period.

3. Duly incorporate comments, feedback and revisions from the RMDU team, IOM Country Offices and governmental institutions on national compendia.

4. Provide administrative support to promotional activities related to the compendium, including writing excerpts on the compendium for various newsletters and helping to plan and deliver launch events and more.

5. Work with the regional DTM Officer to provide daily support to DTM projects in the region.

6. Support the drafting of 2-page migration profiles for each IOM Member State in the region by collating data for a standard list of indicators on migrant stocks, internal displacement, remittances and other areas.

7. Undertake other tasks as may be assigned according to relevant experience and academic background.
