The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and The Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote sustainable and inclusive development and regional connectivity in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP's role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership with policy-oriented research and Analysis, normative support and technical assistance and Capacity Building, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.
The Strategy and Programme Management Division/Capacity Development and Partnerships Section internship is for 4 months with possibility of extension to a maximum of 6 months.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.
The intern will assist the Capacity Development and Partnerships Section of the Strategy and Programme Management Division. Under the guidance of Professional Staff in the Section main duties will be related to the preparation of the 2021 ESCAP Technical Cooperation Highlights, but are not limited to: 1.Conduct research and compile ESCAP success stories delivered through technical cooperation projects with different partners; 2.Identify link between success stories and their contribution towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development within the context of the Socio-Economic Response to Covid-19: ESCAP Framework; 3.Compile data and perform simple statistical analysis on financial contributions and expenditures by thematic groupings; 4. Coordinate and work closely with colleagues in the Capacity Development and Partnerships Section, and the Planning and Budget Section, as well as colleagues in all Divisions and Offices across ESCAP in conducting research and data compilation; 5.Assist with designing and preparing the layout of the Yearbook and any other related information materials, briefs and presentations.Competencies

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
•Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a)be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b)be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
c)have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
• Be computer literate in standard Software Applications; •Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and •Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
