Job Overview:
This Internship opportunity is situated within the Directorate of Navigation at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, Netherlands. The primary focus of this role is to engage in the optimization of JIRA, a task management tool, within a multi-project and multi-team environment. Interns will be tasked with enhancing task management processes, improving team collaboration, and streamlining communication across various projects. The internship will provide hands-on experience in agile task management, allowing candidates to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. Interns will analyze the current JIRA environment, interact with users to identify their needs, and Design a flexible project solution that meets those requirements. This role is ideal for candidates looking to gain experience in Project Management methodologies and effective communication strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
- Analyzing the current JIRA environment to identify areas for improvement.
- Interacting with users to gather requirements and understand their needs.
- Designing and implementing a flexible JIRA project solution that aligns with user requirements.
- Developing workflows to monitor key project stages such as design, issue tracking, deployment, testing, and validation.
- Setting up automated reporting mechanisms to provide stakeholders with real-time updates on project progress.
- Identifying potential task or scheduling conflicts and proposing solutions.
- Gaining hands-on experience in optimizing JIRA for real-world applications.
- Developing problem-solving and analytical skills while managing a multi-project, multi-team environment.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be university students, preferably in their final or second-to-last year of a Master’s level course. They must remain enrolled at their university for the entire duration of the internship. Knowledge and background in JIRA or similar tools is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in a university program, ideally pursuing a Master’s degree. The internship is particularly suited for students in fields related to project management, Information Systems, or engineering, who are looking to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting.
Experience:
While prior experience in a professional setting is not mandatory, familiarity with JIRA or similar project management tools is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a dynamic work environment.
Languages:
The working languages of the European Space Agency are English and French. A good command of one of these languages is required for the position. Knowledge of another language from a Member State would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse ESA workforce.
