Job Overview:
The Intern for the MPA Program will work under the guidance of the MPA Program Manager and the direct supervision of the MPA National Program Officer. The intern will assist in supporting and contributing to MPA program activities in Somaliland. This role involves a variety of administrative tasks, documentation, and logistical support related to the implementation of MPA projects. The intern will gain valuable on-site experience in an international multicultural environment, particularly within the United Nations system. They will learn about the intergovernmental organization's work in migration and sustainable development, including collaboration with government partners and UN agencies. The intern will also acquire technical knowledge in reporting, development of communication products, and community stabilization programming, while having access to online Training Courses available to all staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties will include assisting the MPA team with daily administrative tasks and ensuring proper documentation for all activities related to MPA projects in Somaliland. They will collect supporting documents for procurement and finance tasks, assist case management teams with financial processes, provide logistical and administrative support for workshops and training events, and maintain organization of the MPA shared project folder. The intern will follow up with MPA staff to gather necessary information for project communication and visibility activities, and may also support field mentoring and on-site monitoring visits as needed. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the direct supervisor, MPA Program Officer/Manager.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or a master's degree in development studies, business Administration, International Relations, Law, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Experience in program implementation and reporting is essential, along with skills in writing and editing informational materials and reports. Familiarity with Operational Activities in both humanitarian and development sectors is required, and work experience in the region is considered an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) is necessary, and digital literacy, particularly in Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, is a plus. Fluency in English and Somali, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree or a master's degree in relevant fields such as development studies, business administration, international relations, law, or similar disciplines from an accredited institution. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of the MPA program and its implementation in Somaliland.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience in program implementation and reporting, as well as operational activities within the humanitarian and development sectors. Previous work experience in the region is advantageous, as it provides context and understanding of local dynamics and challenges.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Somali is required for this position, both in oral and written forms. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication within the team and with stakeholders involved in the MPA program.
