Job Posting Organization:
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is the world’s largest regional security organization, established with the aim of promoting stability, peace, and democracy across its 57 participating States in North America, Europe, and Asia. The OSCE operates through political dialogue and practical work to build and sustain peace and stability, serving over a billion people. The organization encompasses a comprehensive approach to security that includes politico-military, economic and environmental, and human dimensions. The OSCE Secretariat is responsible for the administrative and programmatic functions of the organization, facilitating the implementation of its mandates and initiatives.

Job Overview:
The OSCE is offering internships that last between 2 to 6 months, providing a unique opportunity for individuals to gain insight into the day-to-day operations of the organization. Interns will be involved in various administrative and programmatic areas, allowing them to develop professional skills and gain practical experience in a multinational environment. The Internship program is designed to foster professional growth, networking opportunities, and mentorship from experienced professionals within the OSCE. Interns will be expected to engage actively in their assigned tasks, contributing to the organization's mission of promoting security and cooperation among its member states.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns at the OSCE will undertake a variety of tasks that may include drafting research papers, policy reports, and other written materials such as briefing papers and presentations. They will assist in project management, including the preparation of project proposals and budgets, and compiling progress reports for donors. Interns will conduct thematic research, assist with legal document revisions, media monitoring, and financial analyses. They will support communication-related events and outreach activities, including website updates and creating content for social media. Additionally, interns will help organize events, meetings, and workshops, take minutes during meetings, draft official records, and support daily operational work in administrative departments such as Human Resources and Financial Services. They will also assist senior managers in preparing for trips and meetings by compiling background documents and managing Logistics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the internship must be no older than 30 years by the application deadline. They should have completed at least two years of full-time post-secondary education or graduated within two years prior to the deadline. Proficiency in English, both oral and written, is essential, along with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Candidates should demonstrate high motivation, open-mindedness, and flexibility, and be capable of establishing effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds while maintaining impartiality. Awareness of gender perspectives in tasks and activities is also required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is necessary for the role.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to have completed two years of post-secondary education or to have graduated within the last two years. This educational background should ideally be in fields relevant to International Relations, political science, Law, or other related disciplines that align with the OSCE's mission and activities.

Experience:
While previous work experience in a relevant field is considered an asset, it is not mandatory. However, candidates with experience in a multilateral or multicultural environment will have an advantage. The OSCE values organizational, multi-tasking, and analytical skills, as well as strong drafting abilities.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other OSCE official languages, particularly Russian, is considered an asset but is not required. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English, as interviews will be conducted in this language.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. It is important to note that the OSCE does not provide remuneration for internships or reimbursement for travel expenses related to relocation. However, the receiving office may contribute towards the cost of living for non-resident interns. The internship does not guarantee future employment with the OSCE, and candidates should be aware that they may need to obtain a D-visa to work at the OSCE Secretariat. Selected interns will be required to participate in a group health insurance scheme at their own expense if they do not have existing health insurance. The OSCE is committed to diversity and inclusion and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
