Job Description

Eligibility criteria Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Peacebuilding Advisor or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the IUNV Peacebuilding Project Manager will: · Lead in identification and Mapping of the peacebuilding institutions at national and sub-national levels including academia and community-based mechanisms and structures; · Undertake comprehensive institutional and individual capacity assessment, identify capacity gaps and develop a comprehensive Capacity Building plan for national and sub-national peacebuilding institutions and entities and other Capacity Development related issues for the project; · Provide support to manage, lead, motivate and develop training team at field level; · Conduct training needs assessment, design and implement appropriate peacebuilding training plans and the budget needs; · Work in Coordination with the Project Team to develop tailored training curriculum, manuals, modules and relevant guidelines, develop training and learning materials (flip chart, flash card, process card, booklet, handout and video learning aid etc); · Assists in the review and Analysis of issues and trends related to capacity development, training and learning including the preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies; · Undertakes survey initiatives pertaining to capacity development, training and learning; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions.

· Provide Technical Assistance to the National and sub-National Peace Commission, Civil Society Organizations, and other stakeholders through capacity building and knowledge management; · Sensitize stakeholders on conflict and gender-sensitive approaches and programming as outlined in the women, peace and security agenda and UNDP peace manuals and guidelines; · Develop tools for pre-post training evaluation and conduct evaluation; · Coordinate with relevant training providers in the academia and civil society; · Performs other duties as required by the Supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: · Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); · Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; · Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.

· Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; · Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; · Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments: Master’s Degree in Conflict Prevention/peace studies, political/social science, international relations, law, public Administration, or other relevant field.

Required experience: 60 Months Experience remark: Minimum 5 years’ experience in peacebuilding capacity development.

· Experience with developing peacebuilding training manual, modules, curricula and training materials • Proven experience of conducting ToTs, training needs assessment along with facilitations skills and ability to independently prepare training reports • Evaluation and monitoring of training programme.

Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of expertise: Education policy and planning, curriculum development and teacher training Area of expertise details: · Demonstrated ability to conduct independent analysis, identify issues, evaluate options, recommend solutions and write analytical or summative reports is highly preferred · Prior experience working with UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) is desirable · Dedication to the principles of the United Nations, especially for working in a culture of diversity · Mature personality, capable of handling sensitive, politically related situations, and contacts within government authorities in a highly delicate political environment Excellent analytical, communication, writing and presentation skill Driving license: No
