Job Overview:
The Individual Contractors will play a crucial role in supporting the Property Management Unit by assisting with a wide range of property management issues. This position involves day-to-day activities that require collaboration with sub-unit supervisors and the Chief of the Unit. The contractors will be responsible for ensuring compliance with inventory management processes, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate records of property and equipment. This role is essential for the effective management of the UN's assets and ensuring that all property is accounted for and properly maintained.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: participating in periodic physical verification and counting of equipment to ensure accuracy; assisting in the preparation and dissemination of reports on property acquisition and surplus; ensuring all property equipment is properly tagged and bar-coded; supporting the assignment and installation of equipment; managing an electronic database of non-expendable property; analyzing and suggesting improvements for inventory control activities; providing training and supervision to outsourced staff; and maintaining a comprehensive filing system. The role also includes drafting correspondence and performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma, with a preference for those holding a degree in Procurement, Business Administration, or Accounting. Additional training in IPSAS and Umoja related to property management and Logistics is desired. A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in Supply Chain Management, business administration, accounting, or IT is required, with experience in inventory and property management being highly desirable.
Educational Background:
A High School Diploma is mandatory for this position. A degree in a relevant field such as Procurement, Business Administration, or Accounting is preferred. Additional training in IPSAS and Umoja systems is also desired to enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least six years of progressively responsible experience in fields related to Supply Chain Management, business administration, accounting, or IT. Experience specifically in inventory management, warehouse operations, and property management is highly desirable, as it directly relates to the duties of the position.
Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Excellent writing skills in English are essential. Knowledge of French or another official United Nations language is considered an asset and is desired for this role.
