Job Overview:
The ILO Office in Iraq is seeking an individual consultant to undertake a critical assignment involving the design, layout, typesetting, and initial proofreading of three policy papers. These papers will focus on extending social Security coverage to informal workers in the agricultural, construction, and Manufacturing sectors. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the design and layout adhere strictly to the ILO corporate identity guidelines, as well as the branding policies of the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and the European Union (EU). The consultant will work with documents in English, Arabic, and Kurdish, ensuring that the final products are visually appealing, user-friendly, and accessible. The role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the ILO team and external proofreaders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will perform a variety of tasks, including: reviewing the ILO corporate identity guidelines and House Style Manual; analyzing existing ILO publications for design inspiration; selecting appropriate images to enhance the policy papers; proposing designs for charts, graphs, maps, and tables; creating draft mock-ups of the policy papers; finalizing the design and layout based on feedback; conducting thorough proofreading of all nine papers; and ensuring that the final versions comply with all branding guidelines. The consultant will also be responsible for managing timelines and deliverables, ensuring that all work is completed within the specified deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least three years of demonstrated experience in design, layout, publishing, typesetting, and proofreading services. A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality publications, particularly those produced for the ILO or UN, is essential. Proficiency in design software such as InDesign and Data Wrapper is required, along with the technical capacity to deliver quality services in English, Arabic, and Kurdish. Attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and a strong orientation towards quality and compliance with branding policies are critical qualifications for this role.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in Graphic Design, publishing, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have formal training or certifications that demonstrate their expertise in design and layout principles, as well as proficiency in the software tools necessary for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in the design and layout of publications. Experience working with UN organizations, particularly the ILO, is considered an advantage. The ability to showcase a portfolio of previous work that reflects high-quality design and adherence to branding guidelines is crucial.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory, while knowledge of Kurdish is considered an advantage. The consultant must be able to communicate effectively in these languages to ensure accurate proofreading and adherence to branding guidelines.
