Duties and Responsibilities:
The Humanitarian Affairs Officer will be responsible for several key tasks, including: contributing to the development of humanitarian affairs activities by supporting the project’s Coordination Team; performing Data Collection and research on local and international contexts regarding security, medical, nutritional, and humanitarian issues; supporting the Head of Mission and Field Coordinators in data Analysis to optimize program and project responses; compiling regular updates on activities and plans of NGOs, the UN, ICRC, donors, and authorities to align MSF’s activities; collaborating with the Head of Mission, headquarters Operations Department, and other parties to develop a global strategy; defining and reviewing advocacy messages, tools, and lobbying strategies; maintaining working relationships with local authorities, NGOs, communities, and other stakeholders to improve access and coordination; organizing discussions, trainings, and briefings on human rights and humanitarian law for MSF staff; participating in the creation and updating of the country risk analysis; promoting and supporting advocacy activities at local, national, and international levels; and supervising humanitarian affairs staff in the project.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an essential degree in law, humanitarian affairs, political science, or a related field. A minimum of two years of experience in research, analysis, and advocacy is required, along with essential experience with MSF or other NGOs. Fluency in the mission language is mandatory, and candidates must demonstrate essential computer literacy, particularly in Word, Excel, and Internet usage.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in law, humanitarian affairs, political science, or a related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian issues and the legal frameworks that govern them.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in research, analysis, and advocacy.
