Job Overview:
The Human Resources Director (HR Director) position at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role that serves as a business partner and Advisor to leaders and employees within the Midwest region. This role involves the development and implementation of human resources strategies that align with the Association's goals. The HR Director will lead various HR programs and regional learning and development activities, focusing on leadership development and facilitating virtual training sessions. The position is designed to support employees throughout their lifecycle, from onboarding to departure, and to enhance employee engagement and organizational development. The HR Director will also utilize HR metrics and data to provide insights for continuous improvement in workplace culture and leadership effectiveness. This position can be home-based anywhere within the 13-state Midwest region, which includes states such as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, and others.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Director will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to: providing support to employees throughout their lifecycle, conducting check-in calls, assisting with Development Plans, and processing departures. The director will advise employees and managers on HR programs and procedures, focusing on onboarding, employee relations, engagement, organizational development, and talent succession. The role requires the utilization of key HR metrics and data to provide insights for improving culture and leadership. Additionally, the HR Director will work to improve performance by identifying barriers and implementing coaching strategies. The director will create and facilitate virtual training sessions for leadership and individual contributors, lead region-wide HR projects, and maintain partnerships with other HR functions such as Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the HR Director position must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or SPHR/PHR certifications. A minimum of three years of proven experience in human resources is required, with at least two years of experience in employee and leadership coaching. Training facilitation experience is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with effective interpersonal skills to relate to individuals at all levels. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance, exceptional skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. The role may require up to 10% travel, both local and overnight.
Educational Background:
